SKI RACING PROGRAM

Have you ever watched ski racing on the television and imaged what it would be like to go through the gates? Whether you are an experienced racer or just looking to see how you’ll do on a race course, Mad River Mountain offers a racing program for all ages and abilities

In addition to the opportunities listed below, on January 28th and 29th, Mad River Mountain will hold the Annual Open Race which is, as the name suggests, open to all skier and snowboarder levels with prizes in a variety of age categories. Also, join us for the season-ending Memorial Races March 4, 2012 at 10am, weather and ski conditions permitting. There is no entry fee for the Memorial Race and prizes will be available. WEEKEND RACING SERIES

New this year – weekend racing is open to the public! Each weekend during January and February you can race in slalom and giant slalom (NASTAR) races. Races are held at 10:00am and 1:00pm (conditions permitting). The courses will vary from week to week and will be fair and challenging for all. You can race one or all of the events. Each day is $10.00, or the entire series for $60.00 Adults ($45.00 Juniors). Adults can add the Hump Day Racing Series for only $40.00 more.

Registration for the league can be done in the administration office. Check the event calendar for specific race times.

JUNIOR RACING PROGRAM

Are you a NASTAR (tm) racer under 18 years old or a USSA Junior? Tuesday and Thursday nights you can join our USSA certified coaches outside the Racing Headquarters (1st floor of the Administrative Building, slope-side) to refine your racing skills and tactics. We utilize the latest techniques to create an environment to allow you to excel in a variety of conditions and race courses. This program is available on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm starting December 20, 2011 through March 1, 2012. Participants must pre-register in the Administrative Office. The price is $80.00 for the weekly training, $95.00 for entire program including the race camp, or $15.00 for individual lessons.

If you or your kids are interested in USSA racing you must first become a USSA member/alpine competitor by completing and submitting a USSA membership form, along with applicable dues, to the USSA. Membership forms for USSA alpine racing may be obtained at the USSA website www.ussa.org or the day of the race between 7:00 and 7:45am. JUNIOR RACE CAMP - POSTPONED -  NEW DATE TBD

The date for this camp is December 29, 2011 from 9:00am-3pm. The registration cost is $30.00 for each participant. Participants must register and pay in the Administrative Office and then meet at the Racing Headquarters room (1st floor of the Administrative Building, slope-side) at 8:45am the day of the camp. The camp includes opportunities to work on the latest skiing and racing technique as well as video review of athletes and world cup stars. The athletes will work with highly skilled coaches on fundamentals, train GS and slalom, and work on their physical & mental focus.
