Louie Vito - Olympian, XGames Star, Ohio Native & Mad River Ambassador
You may or may not know but Mad River Mountain is where Louie Vito got his start. Louie was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1988 and by the age of 6 he was on a snowboard at Mad River Mountain.
Louie competed in USASA events across the midwest and soon the country. He started missing school to compete and that is when his parents decided to send him to the Stratton Mountain School in Vermont to train full time and also attend school. Louie quickly progressed and at the age of 17 won his first major competition at the Austrialian Open of Snowboarding by completing a backside 1080. After that he was off and running.
Vito quickly moved up the podium and the spotlight by claiming the Chevy US Snowboarding Grand Prix in 2008 (he follwed it by winning it again in 2009 then again in 2011 & 2012!). While he didn't podium one of the highlights has to be Louie's trip to the Vancouver Winter Olympic games where he represented his country in the halfpipe. Louie has a number of titles under his belt including two Dew Tour Series Championships, four XGames medals and he has made the podium in 17 of his last 20 major competitions since competing in the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Louie has also competed in the hit series, "Dancing with the Stars," posed nude for ESPN's Body Issue, and continues to work on Living Louie Vito, an online lifestyle about well you guessed it Louie. Check it out:
