Adaptive Lessons

In collaboration with The Adaptive Adventure Sports Coalition (TAASC), Mad River Mountain is dedicated to making the joys of snow-sports accessible to all. The heart of the adaptive ski program is a large, diverse core of highly-trained volunteer PSIA instructors who are ready to guide guests ages 6 and older in the snow-sport of their choice. With our inventory of adaptive equipment and the experience, knowledge and expertise of our volunteers, we are able to offer lessons in all six adaptive disciplines:

  • Developmental disability
  • Visual impairment
  • Three-track
  • Four-track
  • Bi-ski
  • Mono-ski


Adaptive Program

Office Location & Registration

The Adaptive Program is located adjacent to Guest Services in the Mountain House. Registration is mandatory for all adaptive lessons. All registration is
done through TAASC by calling 614-293-4963 or pre-register online at www.taasc.org.

Instructors and Volunteers

TAASC has 12 Level 1 PSIA Certified Adaptive Alpine Ski Instructors 3 Level II Instructors and over 100 volunteers that dedicate their time and energy into teaching individuals with disabilities how to ski.

Cost

2 hour lesson $35
All Day 5 hour lesson $50
Eight 2-hour lessons $150

All payment for adaptive ski lessons is to be made to TAASC.

Cost includes: equipment, private instruction and lift pass.

Lesson Dates

TAASC will provide two sessions (9:30AM-12 PM & 1PM-3:30 PM*) every Saturday beginning January 7th, 2012.. TAASC will also provide lessons during the week when equipment and instructors are available. Midweek lessons must be booked at least one week prior to the desired lesson date. 

Please plan on arriving at Mad River at least one hour prior to your lesson start time to get fitted for equipment.

Equipment Rental

Only members of TAASC have the ability to rent adaptive ski equipment. All individuals wanting to rent equipment must be able to demonstrate the ability to independently use equipment before being able to rent. A refundable deposit in the amount of $100 is required for all rentals. Actual equipment rental fees vary depending on type and brand of equipment being rented. Contact TAASC for more details.
