OnTheSnow.com Names Mad River Mountain Best in Terrain Park Category in 2011 Visitors Choice Awards

Zanesfield, OH. - April 11, 2011 - OnTheSnow.com named Mad River Mountain the best in the Midwest Terrain Park category in the 2011 Visitors Choice Awards, an annual list of favorite resorts as ranked by user ratings from the site's 3.4 million monthly unique visitors. OnTheSnow presented the awards to each of the winners on April 6 at the Mountain Travel Symposium, and Mad River Mountain was one of only 30 mountains on the continent to receive a top nod.

"It's an honor to receive the 2011 Visitors Choice Award," said Brian Papworth of Mad River Mountain. "As park riders, we are very passionate about our terrain park offering and strive to create a unique freestyle experience for our guests. Receiving this award for the second consecutive season, confirms that our vision has become reality."

Each of the awards reflects users' ratings of the resorts on a scale of one to five in five categories: overall experience, nightlife, family-friendliness, downhill terrain and terrain park. For the Visitors Choice Awards, the OnTheSnow team picked the resorts with a minimum number of reviews and the top average score in each category to receive honors. Mad River Mountain took the top spot in the Midwest region for its Terrain Park category.

"The web was made for rankings like these," said Chad Dyer, global managing director of Mountain News Corporation, which operates OnTheSnow. "Our site began as a place for skiers and snowboarders to share and learn about a sport they love, and today, we're using all their contributions to tell a larger story. It's true internet democracy."

The OnTheSnow team noted that the rankings should not be used as comparisons across regions, however, since visitors to the site have not visited every resort, and expectations of the ski experience vary greatly throughout North America. "Our regional awards give our visitors the chance to compare peers," said Dyer, "This year, we're happy to report that Mad River Mountain came out on top."
