Saturday, October 22, 2011, the Mad River Mountain Staff will be hauling four semi trailers loaded with over 50 tons of snow to Mad River Mountain for The Capital Rail Jam. After half a decade of holding the annual preseason rail jam events at various off-site locations, we decided to bring the event home and properly kick off Mad River Mountain's 50th Season in our own backyard.

The Midwest's skier and riders can enjoy a free day of live entertainment, rail sessions, a rail jam competition, pro snowboard demo, movie premiers, beer garden, and barbecue. The day will kickoff at 2pm with a free snow session on three creative rail and jib areas designed for all skill levels. Live entertainment will keep the hype going as Skratchmatik and MC Many Styles will perform during the free rail sessions. Prior to The Capital Rail Jam, The Technine Team featuring Dylan Thompson, Derek Dennison, and Andrew Brewer will take the stage and demonstrate their skills on the competition rail set and then judge the skiers and riders as they compete for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. Registration for the Cash Purse Rail Jam begins at 4pm and costs $20. After the rail jam, the competition rail set will be open to the public for a one hour "ride with the pros" session. Several other special guests are rumored to make an appearance so stay tuned for the latest info on the event.

Following the rail sessions, the crew from Quiksilver and Roxy will be showing this years hottest styles and after dark, a specialized high definition outdoor movie screen will be used to premier the new 2011 film releases,Bald E-Gal's The Convoy, Flow's Was Here, Standard Films' "TB 20" and FODT's "Familia 2". Rounding out the days activities The Ark Band will perform on the Loft Bar Deck Food and beverages will be provided all day courtesy of the Mad River Mountain Ski Patrol.
